Welcome to the 2005 Rotary Health Safari - a round Australia journey
promoting the work done by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund.
The objectives of the Safari are to:
- Celebrate Rotary’s Centennial Year
- Celebrate 25 Years of Australian Rotary Health Research Fund
- Promote awareness of community health issues
- Create an awareness of the research work of the ARHRF focussing
on Mental Illness awareness particularly the mental health of children
- Strengthen and expand the ARHRF and secure its future
The Event:
- A specially fitted out Winnebago motorhome will travel anti-clockwise
around Australia through all Rotary Districts from July to December
2005, visiting as many Rotary clubs as possible.
- A media campaign will be prepared to publicise the Safari, its
aims and its progress.
- Owners of Winnebagos and other motorhomes and caravans, along with members of Rotary Fellowships, eg motorcycles, will be encouraged to take part and be included in the Rotary functions.
- In each town the Winnebago will be on display parked at a high
profile location.
- Rotary clubs have the option of:
- Arranging a celebratory lunch or dinner
- Using the Safari visit to promote the Rotary centenary
- Arranging a school project or competition based on the Safari
- Arranging a Mental Health Awareness forum
Benefits of the Safari:
- Raising community awareness of health issues
- Developing a sense of ownership by Rotary clubs of the ARHRF
- Promoting fundraising initiatives for Rotary clubs
- Creating greater understanding of the programmes run by ARHRF
- Providing an opportunity for clubs to conduct celebratory activities
- Creating an opportunity to arrange community or school mental
health forums, to help Australians experiencing mental health and
other problems
- Promoting the importance of good mental health for all Australians
Event Schedule:
- Start - Friday July 1st from Martin Place, Sydney
- Finish - Friday December 16th, Sydney
